June 20 – Solstice

Longest day of the year, and I was up before dawn so I could scout out morning painting options. Did some sketching in the afternoon before heavy rains came again. Enjoyed taking such varied photos today…

Okay, yet another tease for Marta. Lovely soft bread with poppy, sesame, and a wee bit of cheese. Yum.

June 19 – Painting…

Did a couple paintings, but I’m going to hold off posting paintings for a while until I get things working a little better. Meanwhile, there’s always good stuff to look at around here…

June 18 – Change of scene

Felt like I had to get out of the town for a bit, see new stuff. So I hiked to the top of Klet, the nearby peak visible from Cesky Krumlov, with radio tower and an old observation tower. Ended up hiking all day today.

Time for another tease for Marta. This time it’s “kulajda” (koo-LYE-dah), really wonderful soup with potatoes, mushrooms, cukes, etc. It gave me the fuel for my all-day hike.

June 17 – A beautiful summer Sunday

Okay, it rained in the morning but then it turned out to be a gorgeous day. I sat on the courthouse steps (which I guessed would be okay on a Sunday!) and did a painting. I enjoyed a late afternoon/evening walk through the town.

June 16 – A perfect summer Saturday

Beautiful sunshine, delicious poppy seed roll for breakfast, painting in the morning, drawing in the afternoon, watching the crowds rafting on the river, resting, reading. A good day.

June 14 – Sunshine! Gorgeous sunshine!

A breathtakingly beautiful day today. Still cool, but oh, that sunshine. It’s as if Cesky Krumlov became another town. And I was one happy painter.

Yum yum. Speaking of tasty, here’s another teaser for Marta. Bez maku, bez smaku! (No poppy seeds, no taste!)

Kind hosts took me out for coffee. I was grateful for their very good English.

Here’s the painting from rainy yesterday.

June 13 – Rain rain…

Rain all morning and most of the afternoon kept me from painting, but I still went out walking. I did a painting in the evening, but it’s not quite done. Perhaps I’ll be able to return to that spot tomorrow.

June 12 – Soaked

It started raining hard in the middle of today’s painting, and I had to dash for home. I returned later finish it up.

June 11 – Painting begins

I headed out early and got a couple paintings done today.

First, this was from yesterday evening. Looks like fun!

It was great to get painting. I still had to deal with ever changing weather. Put up the umbrella twice while I was working. But I managed okay.
