| This year was an exceptionally productive one, thanks to the generosity of those who provide residencies to visual artists. To see work from 2009 please click here.
I enjoyed a productive two weeks of painting in May 2009 during my "Red House Residency." It was a great pleasure to be in Acadia so early in the season.
I had two (very cold and soggy!) weeks in June at the Eastern Frontier Educational Foundation on Norton Island, Maine. What a wonderful enterprise. It was a pleasure to meet the other artists and writers. I was very happy to have the opportunity to paint a portrait of Giorgio Bonicelli, master chef!
In the fall of 2009, I had three marvelous weeks of painting at Acadia National Park as part of the park's Artist in Residence program. It was a joy to work on the Schoodic Peninsula (see photo above), and a genuine delight to teach groups of gradeschoolers taking part in the SEA (Schoodic Education Adventure) program.
All of the 2009 painting trips built on previous work, in particular the work done at he Robert M. MacNamara Foundation, in Westport, Maine during September and October of 2008. To see work done during this residency, please click here.
I am profoundly grateful to the individuals and foundations who have provided such welcome and needed support, and to my employers and friends who have helped make it possible for me to take advantage of these residency opportunities. Thank you!
